The place

Watami Japanese Food is a Hawthorn restaurant with a menu built around everyday Japanese dishes. Ramen, udon and donburi sit alongside katsu, sushi and bento boxes, with smaller dishes rounding out the offering. Its stated focus is approachable, home-style Japanese cooking in a relaxed neighbourhood setting, connecting a broad menu with the familiarity of an everyday meal.

Through the lens
